Animal lovers turn out for yard sale to benefit North Fork Animal Welfare League

A crowd went to the dogs — and cats — on Saturday at a yard sale hosted by The North Fork Animal Welfare League to benefit local animals in need.

The event took place at the Southold shelter, located on Peconic Lane in Peconic.

“It is sure to be the biggest yard sale the North Fork has seen,” said the NFAWL’s Gabrielle Stroup before the event. “We have gotten so many donations the whole building is full.”

The tag sale included merchandise such as vintage lamps and furniture, household items, quality collectibles, artwork, appliances, pottery, glassware, rugs, tools, jewelry and toys.

And, as shoppers browsed the tables bursting with wares, dogs waiting for forever homes looked on from their pens.
