Jean Gilmore, 81

Jean Gilmore of South Jamesport died August 17, 2014. She was 81 years old.

Born in Queens on November 27, 1932, she was the daughter of William and Emma Smith.

A resident of South Jamesport since 1996, she worked as a cook at Riverhead High School. She enjoyed various crafts and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and “yard sale-ing” on the weekends.

Predeceased be her husband John in 1977 and a son, Wayne Schutt, she is survived by her children, Karen Kelly, of Aquebogue, Robert Schutt of Patchogue, William Gilmore of South Jamesport, Kenny Gilmore of Florida and Jeannie Gilmore of Florida. She is also survived by a brother, William Smith, and a sister, June Ree-Gafarian. She was predeceased by her brother, Frank and sisters, Joyce and Eileen.

The family of will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 19, 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home, 336 Marcy Avenue, Riverhead. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 20 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Long Island National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Athritis Foundation.
