Rosemary L. Hammel, of Riverhead, died July 17, 2014. She was 78 years old.
Hammel was born on Jan. 7, 1936 to Thurston and Jane Millett in the Bronx. She married her husband Robert in 1960 and was a lifelong resident of Reeves Park in Riverhead.
Hammel spent more than 20 years as a loan supervisor at North Fork Bank in Mattituck. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics and refinishing furniture.
Predeceased by her husband in 1992, and her sister Jeanine, she is survived by her two sons, Robert, of Riverhead, and Matthew, of Medford and her daughter Jennifer Rey, of Queens. She is also survived by her brother Thurston J. Millett, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday July 20 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m at McLaughlin-Heppner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calverton National Cemetery. The family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
