Cops: Man in Speedo shoves police at ferry terminal

A man in a blue Speedo shoved police at the Cross Sound Ferry Terminal Wednesday night, police said.

According to Southold Town police, Roger Jan Makowski, 56, of Islip was arrested at 6;01 p.m. at the terminal, located on Route 25 in Orient, after walking the ferry terminal and asking patrons for a screwdriver to remove the license plate off a U-Haul van.

Further investigation revealed that Makowski was attempting to abandon the vehicle at the ferry terminal, police said. During the investigation, Makowski became enraged and shoved one of the officers, poice said.

Makowski was arrested, charged with disorderly conduct and harassment, violations, and transported to Southold Town police headquarters where he was processed, and held to await arraignment before the Southold Town Justice Court.
