A tragic accident took the life of a Farmingdale woman who was killed early this morning in a single-car accident in Orient, police said.

Shortly after midnight, Southold Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on Point Road. Upon arrival, they found a single vehicle had driven off the private road and struck several small trees and a utility pole.

Orient Fire/Rescue responded and found the driver had died from her injuries. The driver has been identified as Jacquelyn A. Carvo, 30, of Farmingdale. The passenger, her 18-month-old daughter, was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital, where she was evaluated and found to be uninjured.
